Save Your Most Effective Messages as Email Templates and Reuse Them in Any Sequence
Templates make it easy for you to consolidate the content that is sent to your contacts, and also allow your team to collaborate and share resources. The creation and edit-ability of templates can be controlled by permissions as well (detailed here), which helps ensure they are always a reliable source of truth for successful content. There are two primary methods for creating templates, both of which are detailed below.
From the Templates Page

- Pro Tip: With our Chrome extension you can load these templates directly in Gmail, as well as in Apollo Sequences.

- Pro Tips: Use our snippets to add personalization: a snippet like {{first name}} will automatically insert the actual first name of any contact you email. You can create custom snippets based on any custom contact and/or account fields you create. Finally, check out the conditional snippets section of our snippet modal to create snippets with automatic fallbacks for any contact that doesn't have that data field filled in.

From Sequences (Creating Templates as you Create Sequences)
1. Navigate to the Sequences page.
2. Create a new sequence (more detail on this process can be found here).
3. While creating an automatic email or manual email step, you will see the option to save your message as a new template, as shown in the GIF below:
- Note: The 'Save as a new template' option will not appear if you have already loaded an existing template into the step (possible by clicking the
icon).

Now your template is ready to be used anywhere else you like.
4. To edit your new template from the Sequences page after it's saved, you will need to open the relevant step, make changes to it, and then click Save Changes. This will only work if the template is still linked to the step, however (detailed more below). You can also edit these templates from your Templates page.
- Important Notes:
- Any templates created from a sequence step will always be linked to the given step initially, which means that any saved changes to the message will be applied to the template, and vice versa.
- To clone a template created from a sequence step (while in the Sequences page), simply open the relevant step, click the Load templates button (
), select the template in the dropdown, and click Clone. Then, to save this clone as its own template, you will need to click the 'Save as a new template' option again before saving.
- More information on the difference between linking and cloning templates can be found here.
