You and your team may have custom information in Salesforce to organize contacts by or report on. Conversely, you may have a need to note specific information gathered from each Lead/Contact in Apollo and automatically sync this special note to a Salesforce Field to be reported on.
Sync Custom Fields with Salesforce

Create a Custom Field in Salesforce
First, identify to what record type is this syncing – Contact, Lead, or Account?
Then, you can create a custom field on that Salesforce Record Type.
For example, we'll walk through how to add this on the Lead Record Type (this is the same workflow on the Contact and Account, just replace the word "Lead")!
Log into Salesforce and navigate to Setup > Leads > Fields > Scroll down toLead Custom Fields & Relationships > click New
Choose your Type of Field, create your values, and Save. -
Create a Custom Field in Apollo and Sync it to SFDC
Depending on our custom field's SFDC record type (Lead/Contact or Account)
Navigate to Settings > Custom Fields > CONTACTS or ACCOUNTS
We'll continue to use our Lead Record Type example.
Navigate to Settings > Custom Fields > Contacts > and click into the Fields Page
Click the top right Add button to add your Custom Field
- Name your field
- Select the Type of field to match the type used in the Salesforce Field
Types:
- Single-line
- Multi-line
- Number
- Date
- Date/Time
- Checkbox
- Picklist
- Picklist (Multiselect)
- For Picklist and Picklist (Multiselect) - you can use
- a Global Picklist of preset shared values
or - a New Picklist Value Set
- a Global Picklist of preset shared values
- Enter your values separated by commas
- For Picklist and Picklist (Multiselect) - you can use
- User Lookup (no other lookup fields are currently supported)
- Then, Map to your Lead Field to its match in SFDC
- Click Save!
- For Users with Formula Fields in Salesforce
- Formula fields can be based on any field type in Salesforce (single-line, multi-line, number, etc. - more information found here), so you will need to make sure that you have the correct type selected when mapping it to Apollo (shown below). Next, ensure that the "Read-only" option is checked (shown below), and you should see your formula field appear in the drop-down(s):

You can also report on all of these fields by using the Contact Custom Fields and Account Custom Fields filters in Apollo (found in the filtering sections of the Contacts and Accounts pages):
