Turn This Powerful Salesforce Integration Setting On To Automatically Add Company Enrichment Data to Your Salesforce Leads, Off to Ensure your Salesforce Leads Are NOT Associated with Accounts in Apollo
In Salesforce, Leads (objects) are generally NOT associated with Accounts (objects). Contacts, by contrast, are generally always connected to an Account.
When you integrate your Apollo App with Salesforce, you have the choice to automatically match Salesforce Leads that we sync over with Accounts in Apollo. If you have this setting on, we find the best-fit company to enrich those leads with based on the company name, domain name in their business email, and other information we glean from the Lead record itself. Your leads can then be found as Apollo Contacts within Apollo Accounts. This allows you to leverage a wealth of company data that Apollo tracks in your messaging, reporting, and prioritization, when you run campaigns in Apollo to contact and convert those leads into paying customers. Even though your Salesforce Leads are associated with Accounts in Apollo, we never push or create Account data in Salesforce related to those Leads, since Salesforce does not allow for Leads to be directly associated with Accounts.
However, some customers prefer to keep their Apollo data exactly the same as their Salesforce data. Since Leads cannot be associated with Accounts in Salesforce but they CAN in Apollo, some customers find it confusing to have the same person associated with an Apollo Account when it's not associated with any Account in Salesforce. Depending on your use case, if it's important to keep your Salesforce Leads NOT associated with any Account in Apollo (as well as Salesforce), you can now turn this Lead to Account matching option off.
How to Manage This Important Setting
If you have your Apollo App integrated with Salesforce, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Salesforce > Pull Records > Contacts/Leads and look on the right side of the page to find the toggle to Automatically Match Salesforce Leads to Accounts in Apollo. Click Save if you make a change:
Why Turn This Setting On?
Especially if you're using Sequences to manage your contact engagement in Apollo, pulling Salesforce Leads into Apollo and automatically matching them to Accounts allows you to take advantage of our best in class company enrichment data for better prioritization and personalization of your messages. If you choose this option, know that the same Leads that are NOT associated with Accounts in Salesforce will have Contact records that ARE associated with Accounts in Apollo. If you have other Contacts associated with these Accounts in Apollo, you'll find all your Salesforce Leads AND other relevant Contacts all listed as Contacts under the same Accounts.
Why Turn this Setting Off (Instead)?
If it's important in your sales team's workflows to ensure Leads are NOT associated with Accounts in either Salesforce or Apollo, most likely because you want to keep a distinction between Contacts that ARE associated with Accounts in both Salesforce and Apollo and having Leads listed under the same Accounts would be confusing, turn this setting off. Salesforce Leads synced into Apollo will then have Contact records that are NOT associated with any Account and will only retain your Salesforce Lead data, including company name if you have one listed.
