We Can Use an Account's Name to Automatically Infer Its Enrichment Information, But You Can Disable This Feature

How Does Account Enrichment Work?

To review, accounts are enriched with information in our database based on the website they are associated with. You can always see/change this association by editing an account's profile and modifying its 'Enrich With Data From Apollo' field, shown below -

The value you choose (if anything) determines what enrichment data we show on the account, regardless of what its name is. Note that the enrichment website will also be applied to the 'Account Domain' field by default, but you can always remove/change it. 

If you do decide to manually enter a website into the 'Account Domain' field, then we will give you the option to use that website as the account's enrichment source -

Furthermore, if you use a different account domain and enrichment website, then we will retain whatever you input for both fields. 

Note: This sort of setup will be required any time you have an account website that we don't currently have in our enrichment database. 

What If I Don't Know My Account's Website?

If you want to enrich your accounts with the data we have, but don't have their websites, then enrichment is still possible. As long as you're creating your accounts by importing them in CSVs or pulling them from SFDC, you can have us infer their enrichment information.

To do this for accounts imported from SFDC, go to Settings > Integrations > Salesforce > Accounts, and then enable the switch shown below -

To do this for accounts that are created from a CSV, make sure that the following option is enabled in the CSV importer (detailed here) -

When Should I Use This Feature?

This feature works best when your accounts have names that belong to specific companies (not subsidiaries of them -- i.e. Los Angeles Marriott) and are more well-established (companies with 50+ employees). 

If you notice that this feature is leading to incorrect data showing up on your accounts, however, then we recommend disabling it in order to prevent your records from being automatically updated in ways that you don't want. In that case, manually adding their enrichment websites and account domains for your accounts is the better solution.
